Brinegar Cabin and Doughton Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway!!!
Put on your hiking shoes and join us for a day on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We’ll be starting our day at Brinegar Cabin,
then joining our friends from ASTA (Alleghany Sparta Trails Association) on a short hike.
We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch, followed by a program where we’ll be doing some nature crafts.
We’ll finish out the day with some nature exploration.
You won’t want to miss this fun!
Brinegar Cabin, a well-preserved piece of early mountain life at milepost 238, represents the resourcefulness of mountain families in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who were able to live off the land and sell their homemade goods for cash.
Appalachian history comes to life among the ridgetop meadows and steep mountainsides of Doughton Park. Hike some of the 30 miles of trails here or visit the Doughton Park Visitor Center and Park Store and the Bluffs Restaurant.
